The status screen
The green screen on LIVE has six lines. Hover over one to see its explanation in the app.
| Line | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Clock and state | How long the current recording runs, and READY, ● REC, STARTING, STOPPING or ERROR. When ERROR lights, the details are in the Windows notification. |
| ENGINE | The engine and the language, for example GOOGLE · RU. AUTO → EN means the engine found the language itself and the last phrase was English. RU ≠ EN means it listens for Russian but the last phrase looked English: switch that language on, or pick an engine that tells languages apart. |
| STATE | LISTENING (waiting for speech), HEARING (a voice), DECODING (text is coming), TYPING (going into your window), SILENCE · STOP 4S (auto-stop counting down). |
| LATENCY | Milliseconds from the start of a phrase to its first recognised word. Usually 300 to 900. |
| PHRASES | Phrases and words in this recording. A new recording starts from zero. |
| PACE | Your words per minute while you speak, pauses left out. It appears after the first 5 seconds of speech. |
Three lamps sit beside it: VOICE (speech heard), REC (recording) and ERROR.
LIVE TRANSCRIPT and its switch
The LIVE TRANSCRIPT screen shows the text of the current recording as it is recognised. If someone can see your monitor, turn it off with the small switch at the bottom right of its frame: the lamp next to it turns from green to red and the screen goes dark like an old picture tube. Dictation is not affected; the words still go to your window. The app remembers the position of the switch.
HISTORY
The HISTORY tab at the bottom of LIVE opens a list of your recordings, one entry each, with the time it was made. Every entry has a Copy button that puts that recording's text on the clipboard. That is the quickest way to recover text that did not reach a window, for example one run as administrator.
"Clear history" at the top empties the list. The list keeps the latest 100 recordings.
