The window in front gets the text
Words go to the window that is active when they arrive. Put the cursor in the field first, then press the hotkey. If you switch to another window in the middle of a recording, the next words go there.
One exception: VoiceKeyboard never types into itself. If its own window is in front, for example because you clicked the POWER tube to start, the text goes back to the last window you were using.
Why words change while you speak
Soniox, Google, T-one and Vosk type while you talk. They keep listening to the end of the phrase, and sometimes a later word changes how they hear an earlier one. When that happens, VoiceKeyboard erases the end of the phrase it is typing with Backspace and types the corrected words. Finished phrases and the text you typed yourself are never touched.
Because of those corrections, do not type or move the cursor in the same field while words are still arriving. Wait for the phrase to settle.
GigaAM, Parakeet and Whisper are marked AFTER EACH PHRASE: the finished text of a phrase comes when you pause. A rough draft of the phrase can appear while you are still speaking; the finished text then replaces it in the same way. The table on engines shows which engine does what.
The clipboard
Short pieces are typed as keystrokes. Longer pieces are pasted through the clipboard, and whatever you had copied before is put back right after. If another program changes the clipboard in that moment, VoiceKeyboard leaves the new content alone.
Windows run as administrator
A window that runs as administrator may not accept typing from a regular app. That is a Windows rule, not a setting in VoiceKeyboard. The dictated text is still on the LIVE screen: open HISTORY and press Copy next to the recording to put it on the clipboard.
Where else the text appears
The LIVE TRANSCRIPT screen shows the current recording, and HISTORY keeps each recording with its time. Both are described on the status screen, transcript and history.
